When we got to his palace, Frollo led me to his
suite and into his study. When we sat down and settled in, I realized I had no
clothes other than what I had on. I tu-tutted and Frollo noticed.
"What?" he asked "I don't have anything to
wear
tonight, or tomorrow."
Frollo smiled slightly and
said,
"Don't fret, dear, you can use one of my night
shirts to sleep in tonight, and I'll be going into the country tomorrow
morning and when I do, I'll get your clothes." He already knew where my
clothes were because I showed him my home when I first met
him.
"Thank you, sir." I blushed. It took a lot of
will power not to fall asleep on the sofa, but Frollo, noticing, Gently helped
me to my feet and said,
"Come, I'll show you where you will be
sleeping." he took my hand, and lead me into a corridor off to the side of
his
study. In the room he led me to, there was a woman, dusting and sweeping. she
was a little bit shorter than me, although a lot shorter than Frollo. She had
curly red hair, like mine, twisted up into a bun.
"Sam, this is Miss Sarah, she is the help."
Sarah
"Ah! a wee one! How are you, darling!" she
cheerfully greeted me, "Claude, How did you meet such a lovely young lady?
"
Frollo bowed slightly and said
"Sarah, this is Samantha, she has come to Paris
from a war-torn country, which is why I have asked her to come and join me
here." He looked at me and, opening the closet next to him, he handed me a
bundle of black velvet from it and said, "you can use these tonight, I think
they will fit you. Now I will leave you to change. Sarah will help you with
your garments." He went to change into his own night shirt, leaving me alone
with Sarah.
"Well, let me see here. This is a beautiful
gown. Let us put it somewhere safe." she helped me take it off. I was
reluctant to let her see me without it on, because of the scars. I knew they
would upset her. I won't ever let Frollo see them, though. she wordlessly
helped me put Frollo's night shirt on, which, as Frollo said, fit me
well.
I waited for Sarah to come back as she went out
to let Frollo know I was dressed. When Frollo came back in, he was wearing a
similar robe to the one I was wearing, but longer, and with purple
lining.
"Let's get you tucked in." he said, leading me
out of the room and back into his chambers. He lead me to where he slept, but
to the door next to his bed. In here, there was a cozy little room, with a
fire started in the hearth. Frollo lead me over to the bed, and, when I
climbed in, he tucked the blankets around me. I had to fight back the tears as
he leaned forward and kissed me on the forehead. I think he noticed, for he
wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. I let the tears fall for a few
minutes.
"Minister--"
"Shh. Call me
Claude."
"Claude. Thank you. For
everything."
"You are very welcome." Claude stood, blew the
candle next to my bed out and went to the door.
"Sleep, my sweet child. I promise you that you
are safe here with me" He smiled, closing the door
softly.
I did not get to sleep right away. I tossed and
turned for about an hour. Finally I got out of bed and went out into Claude's
room. I wasn't sure if he was awake, so I was quiet. But I jumped about a foot
in the air when I heard his voice.
"What are you doing out of bed, Samantha?" I
turned around and saw him, sitting up in bed
"I--have a hard time sleeping in new places
alone." I blushed.
Claude looked at me for a second, than, pulling
back his blankets, he said,
"Come here, and sleep next to me." I hesitated
but he insisted. I laid down next to him and he tucked the blankets around me.
I looked up at Claude as he laid down beside me. He moved closer to me and,
holding his arms out, said,
"I won't hurt you, you can move closer." I
timidly scooted closer to him and rested my head on his
shoulder.
"That's better, isn't it?" Claude wrapped his
arms around me and hugged me as I drifted off to
sleep.
I'm walking down the long cold corridor at
Hogwarts.
"HARRY! NEVILLE! GINNY! NOOOOO!!!!" I heard
screams and loud bangs as someone cursed. Professor Flitwick ran past and,
just as he ran into a deserted classroom, I felt cold, clammy hands wrap
themselves around my body. I screamed, kicked, and pleaded as I realized a
dementor was trying to kill me.
"NO! PLEASE! HELP! EXPECTO PATRONUM! AHHH!"
The dementor started yelling my name
"Samantha! Please, child, wake up! Come on, now!" Wait... that can't be... I looked up, still screaming, and saw the dementor... But it wasn't a faceless hole that I saw, but the frightened, shaking, concerned face of Claude Frollo above me. When he realized I was awake, he stopped shaking me and asked, "Are you alright?" I burst into tears and clung to him for dear life as I realized it was all a dream.
"Shh. It's alright, it was just a dream."
Claude said softly.
"I hate this! Why can't I sleep peacefully for
one night?!" I sobbed, trying to calm down. after a few minutes I calmed
down
and relaxed as Claude held me, saying softly,
"It's alright, you are safe here with
me...shh..." It took a while for my heart to go back to it's normal rate,
and
for my body to stop shaking, but I soon fell asleep in his arms, feeling safer
than I had done in a long time...I woke again, but this time I kept my eyes
closed, not wanting to get up. But I groaned as the sun hit me directly in the
face. I rolled over, not caring if Claude saw me. I heard a chuckle from
beside me. Slowly, I opened my eyes, Claude was laying beside me, propped up
on his elbow, watching me. Looking down, I realized I had my arm around his
middle. I snatched my arm away and blushed. This made him laugh even harder.
glaring at Claude, I pulled the blanket over my head, only to have them pulled
back down.
"You know, as much as I enjoy this comfortable,
and cozy position, it's not healthy to sleep past dawn." Claude
said.
"I hate mornings. ugh..." Claude just shook his
head and smirked.
"Come, let us go our separate ways and dress
for the day."
He got up and walked over to the window, where
he looked out to see if there was any trouble. I got out of bed and stretched.
Claude cringed as he heard my arms cracking.
"Ooh, that sounds painful," he
winced.
"No, but I'll be sore if I don't do this.
"After I was stretched and awake, I walked back into the room I had changed
in, seeing that Sarah, the night before, had left a basin of water. I quickly
undressed and realized again I had no clothes--
knock knock
"Samantha?" It was Claude, "Forgive me, I
seem
to have forgotten to bring you your clothes, May I come in?"
I covered myself with Claude's robe, then
said,
"Yes, I am covered."
I struggled not to laugh as Claude opened the
door, and carefully dragged my trunk into the room, setting it down a few
feet away from me. He was carefully trying not to look at me. He straightened
up, cleared his throat, still not looking at me.
"Sarah will be in here in a moment." he said.
After excusing himself, he left.
Sarah came in and looked at my trunk before
asking,
"Which dress would you like to wear today?
"
I thought for a moment, then asked
" Which one do you think Claude will like
best?"
Sarah looked through the hangers, for a dress.
At once she pulled out my white striped suit( the one Rose wears at the
beginning, when she first goes on the ship, but without the hat) with the
purple velvet waist band about two inches wide. She leaned close to me and
said,
"Between you and me, Claude Frollo's favorite
color is purple. Especially on you. He told me this morning when he asked me
to help you get dressed that he likes your taste in attire."
"Really? Wow, I thought he would disapprove of
my dress, the one I had on last night." I said as Sarah helped me get
dressed
"Oh, no! He loved that one, said it looked
heavenly on you!"
After I was dressed Sarah helped me pin my
curls up, then she escorted me out to the Entrance hall, where Claude was
waiting. I think if he had not held his self control, when he saw me, his jaw
would have been on the floor.
"My dear, you look beautiful!" he said,
offering his arm. I took it graciously, thanking him. As we walked around, I
listened as Claude pointed out the different shops, people and foods in the
shops. A voice from off to the right yelled
"Hi, Minister! when are you going to visit
Quasimodo? He has no food, you should check on him."
Claude glanced nervously at me and said
"Not now Phoebus! I will check on him at the
end of the week."
We walked on.
"Who is Quasimodo?" I
asked
Claude stopped, looking down at me. He sighed
and said reluctantly,
"Follow me." He lead me to Notre Dame and up a
whole bunch of rickety staircases, up to the bell tower. I grabbed his arm and
started shaking, this looked so much like the Shrieking Shack... no... stop
it... I closed my eyes tightly and gulped as Claude looked at me curiously. I
mouthed to him I'm fine, really
Claude turned as the door opened and a man,
about twenty, stood in the door. There was something very different about this
man, that I should probably tell you. He had a hunchback, one small eye and
one larger eye. He had red hair, and wore a long green shirt, over brown
pants, and blue shoes. He let us in, greeting his 'Master' who, I was not too
pleased to acknowledge was Claude. We sat down on a large bench in the middle
of the room.
"Quasimodo, this is my friend, Samantha.
Samantha, this is Quasimodo."
He watched me as I stood, approached Quasimodo,
and held out my hand for him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Quasimodo." He
smiled and shook my hand.
"Hi" he said shyly. "You live here? Wow,
it's
so big!" I complimented.
After a few hours, Claude stood and said " We
must be going, I have left you a supply of food. Now I must go. Good day,
Quasimodo." he said. as we made our way back down the stairs, I was struck
with another wave of fear. I shivered, hugging myself and trying to flush the
memories that were reeling in my mind. Claude stopped, looked down at me and
said,
"Close your eyes." I looked up at him. he
nodded. I closed my eyes.
Claude took my hand, and placed my fingers over
his lips.
"Do I have your permission to touch your
waist?" I felt him say. I nodded, confused.
I felt Claude's hands on my waist, leading me
carefully down the stairs. I stiffened when I heard the stairs
creak.
"Dear girl, it is your own footsteps that are
startling you! Relax, my dear, I've got you.." when we were out into the
sunshine, Claude raised his right arm, and his carriage drove up to
us.
"After you." He bowed me into the coach. When
we were inside the coach, Claude looked at me and
said,
"You are truly amazing." shocked by his words,
I looked up at him and he said,
"I didn't want you to meet Quasimodo because I
thought you would be frightened... considering
where.."
I giggled and said,
"Claude, I think he is sweet. So what if he
has a physical imperfection, no one is perfect. Besides, in a way, I am just
like him, different from everyone else."
Claude Frollo looked at me with pure pride on his face.
That night, when we got back to the palace and
we were in Claude's study, curled up on the couch, reading, Claude brought
up
my scare from earlier.
"Why did you become so frightened?
"
FLASHBACK
"HARRY, GO NOW! I'LL HOLD HIM OFF--
"
"NO! FOLLOW ME!" I followed Harry to the huge
oak front doors, ran down the muddy hill and over to the Womping Willow.
"Harry! Are you insane?!
"
Harry ignored me, pointing his wand at the
tree's trunk and screamed,
"Immobulious!" The tree stopped thrashing and
Harry grabbed my hand, pulling me down a tunnel under the tree. He lead me up
a flight of stairs, and into a long corridor. There was a high, cold laugh
than a loud cry of
"CRUCIO!"
"NOOOO!!!" Harry ran to the sound, with me on
his heels. Just as we entered the room, we saw a Death Eater, holding Ron
around the neck. He dropped Ron, pointed his wand at his chest then
shouted
"AVADA KEDEVRA!"
"NOO!! RON!!"
END FLASHBACK
"That bell tower looked so much like..." I shook
myself and sat up straight.
"I apologize, I should have been more careful,"
said Claude.
I shook my head
"You didn't know."
A few months went by. I kept having nightmares,
but when I did, I'd wake up in Claude's arms, soothing me back to sleep with
his soft voice. I soon trusted him more than anyone, and planned on staying in
his time, until one cold, rainy day.
Claude and I sat alone in his study, reading
books to each other. I had told him about my favorite ''film'' which was
TITANIC, and he was amazed when I let him watch parts of the movie on my
portable DVD player.
"So this is a device from the future that is
used for watching moving pictures, you say? My how interesting!" He even
pointed out that Rose was wearing the same dress I had on, which was the
Sinking dress again. I sat down next to him, and smiled as he
said
"But it looks far more lovely on you!" just
then my cell phone vibrated. Claude jumped as he felt it, he was sitting right
next to me. I laughed and pulled out my cell phone. Opening it I realized I
had a text message.
My smile vanished as I read:
Sam, we know you are not going to come back to
our time, but we must tell you that Hermione, Luna, and the Patil twins are
all dead...
--Fred
I felt the world crumble beneath my feet as I
finished. I didn't even notice Claude.
"Samantha, what is wrong? Samantha...? SARAH!"
he ran out into the hall. I couldn't handle it anymore... I jumped up, ran out
into the courtyard, and ran, all the way to the woods. I had realized earlier
that I was near Hogwarts, so I ran in the direction of the path in the woods,
and followed until I came out onto a huge field. I looked out over the lake
and saw the vast castle that was my home, in my time for six years through the
pouring rain...
"Sirius... Professor Dumbledore...Hermione..." I cried, falling to my knees. I let the cold rain wash over me, soaking me to the bone in my thin dress, then I let out a scream of despair and terror, and the world went black.....
Claude ran out into the hall and yelled for Sarah, but Sarah was not answering. Frustrated, he walked back in the room, only to find it deserted... beginning to panic he ran to the window, thinking she had gone to sit alone in the courtyard. Seeing it empty, he thought for a moment.
I know where she is! he
thought...
FLASHBACK; TWO WEEKS BEFORE
Claude and I went to visit his brother, Jehan,
who lived out in the country. On the way there I saw a long, winding road on
the edge of the woods. I had a feeling I knew what it lead to, but just to be
safe, I slowly walked to it. "Can we go through here for a minute? I think I
know where this leads..." Claude followed me through the woods. We came out
into an open field, witch dropped off into a lake. Across was a vast castle..
I asked Claude,
"Can you see that castle?
"
"Castle? Dear girl, there is just an old house
there."
I shook my head and stared at the castle.
END FLASHBACK
Claude rushed down to the stables grabbed his
horse and rode to where he knew she would be. He found the path right away and
rode up it until he spotted a white form on the
ground
"Samantha!" He dismounted his horse and ran to her. She was whiter than snow, and as cold as ice. In one quick motion he picked her up, and carried her to his horse...
"Minister Frollo, really, you should just let
her go, she's been out for a week, now--"
"Shh! I will not leave her side, something was
bothering her, that's why she ran off to where she did, and when she wakes, I
will guarantee you, she will remember it and become upset again. And when she
wakes, I want to be there by her side. She is like the daughter I never had
and I will do everything I can to keep her safe." I felt Claude's hand on my
forehead.
"My dear sweet child, please fight it, whatever
it is..." Claude's pleading voice said. It sounded as if he was , or had
been,
crying. He held my hand in his and kissed it gently. I opened my eyes
carefully and saw him, sitting next to me, with his head bowed over my hand,
his eyes closed. I raised my hand and gently stroked his hair. Claude looked
up, and his tearstained face broke into a smile.
"Samantha!" He said happily. I smiled back at
him as he hugged me, gently.
"Oh, how I thought I lost you!" he kissed the
top of my head and held me gently. I tried to move my leg, but a sharp pain
shot through my foot. I let out a yell.
"No, don't move your legs, you seem to have a
twisted ankle." said Claude. I pointed to my coat, which lay over the side
of
the chair Claude was sitting in.
Claude looked behind him and saw what I was
pointing to. He picked it up and handed it to me. Pulling out my wand, I
looked up at Claude, who nodded and closed the door, locking it. Pointing my
wand at my foot I muttered "Reducio!" and my foot healed instantly.
Claude
looked at me with a very odd expression, like he wanted to say something but
held it back. Finally he said
" I am going to leave you to rest. Sarah is
going to come in and check on you. Do not get out of
bed."
I knew he meant don't run off again. I smirked
at him and laid back on the pillows. Claude gave me one last look, and left,
slamming the door slightly. Sarah came in holding a tray
with tea and teacups. She looked at me and
smiled.
"It's good to have you back. You gave Claude
quite a scare."
"I noticed. He stormed out of here, so I know
he's mad at me..."
"No, no, no. He's just mad because he thought
you were dead. My dear, Claude Frollo is a man who is never weak, frantic and
tearful. But when he came bursting in, after finding you, he was sobbing
hysterically and shaking like mad too!"
"I...didn't know he... cared...I have never
really had a real friend that..."
Sarah set the tray down lightly and sat down
next to me on the bed.
"Sweet child, you truly have no idea how much
Claude cares for you. He got not a single wink of sleep, stayed by your side
the entire time. He was mad because you seemed dead, everyone gave up on you.
But he knew better. He knew you weren't dead, somehow. Please, don't think
he's mad at you, or that he hates you. Oh,
I must go now. But remember." She nodded and
left. I looked up at my trunk, and seeing my school uniform sticking out, I
realized what I had to do.
When Claude came in to see me an hour
later, I was holding my Time-Turner in my hand. I made up my
mind.
"Claude...I have to tell you
something..."
Claude sat down next to me and looked at me
carefully.
"I have to go back to my time.. for a day or
two, to set things straight and check on my friends." I expected him to
argue,
but instead he said,
"On one condition..." I looked
up.
"What?"
"I will accompany you. I don't want a repeat of
what has happened."
I smiled and jumping up, threw my arms around
Claude's neck, I hugged him.
"Thank you!" I kissed him on the cheek and ran
to my trunk. Or at least I tried to.
Claude put his arm over my chest and pushed me
back against the pillows.
"I don't care if you healed your ankle
magically, I am going to help you dress." I raised an eyebrow at this, but
he
just said,
"Keep that blanket over yourself, and I will
help you dress." He walked over to my trunk as I pulled my nightgown off and
kept the blanket over my chest. Claude looked at my trunk for a second, than
at me and asked,
" Which dress do you... Wait, you aren't going
to wear this are you?" he pulled out the my uniform, trying to figure out
what
it was. I giggled and said,
"just put the skirt around my ankles and I can
do the rest. "
He sighed, then sat down in the chair
again.
he put uniform down over the bed, then gently,
pulled my ankles to the floor. then he carefully helped me to my feet, with
his hand on my back, holding the blanket up behind me. I flinched as I felt
the sharp pain in my ankle, realizing that I had not healed it completely.
Claude raised his eyebrow at me and said in a mock surprised and sarcastic
voice,
"I thought you healed it?
"
"I haven't quite mastered that spell, yet." I
blushed.
"Indeed." Instinctively, I wrapped my arm
around Claude's waist, feeling myself beginning to fall, my other arm tightly
holding the blanket over my chest. Claude took the skirt, and put it around my
ankles, as I reached down and pulled it up. Then Claude helped me sit down.
Looking at the other pieces of my uniform, he asked,
"How are you going to put this on?
"
"Accio Undergarments!" I said, pointing my wand
at my trunk. My slip, and other vital things came out toward me. I quickly put
them on, under the blanket and put my white button up shirt on. After I put my
jumper on, I grabbed my tie and started to tie it around my neck. Claude
looked confused but I just shook my head dismissively. When I was dressed,
Claude helped me to his study, where he locked the doors, and stood in front
of me. I took the Time -Turner out of the neck of my shirt, then, looking at
Claude, I realized something was wrong.
Then I realized that he was at least a head
taller than me. carefully, trying not to move my ankle much, I moved to stand
right in front of him. Standing on tip toe, I wrapped the Time-Turner around
Claude's neck, and winced in pain standing back gingerly on my good foot,
hoping Claude didn't notice. but he did.
wrapping his arm around my waist, he looked at me, puzzled. I just shook my head and focused on the task at hand. I turned the hourglass backwards from the way I did before. right before we were lifted off our feet, I heard Claude's sharp intake of breath, and felt him tighten his grip on my waist.
SLAM The Time-Turner had done its job. I carefully placed it
back inside my shirt, then, looking around at Claude,
said
"You can open your eyes now." Claude opened his eyes and looked
around. We were standing at the front gates of Hogwarts, which were closed.
Suddenly I heard a shrill female voice from somewhere on the other side of the
gates. Although I already knew who it was, Claude didn't. He jumped about
three feet in the air, not loosening his grip on me.
"Who goes there?" Came Professor McGonagall's
voice.
"It's me, Samantha" I said softly she looked at me for a
moment, then said to come in. When Claude helped me limp in through the gates
she almost screamed.
" Oh my goodness, dear girl! What happened? Let's get you up to
the school, where Professor Snape can help you." (A/N: In this story, Snape
is
one of the good guys. He did not kill anyone, nor is he a true death Eater.
The school nurse was killed by a Death Eater. I do not like her, so I had her
killed off in this story.) I made to walk on my own, but fell to the ground.
But before I hit the ground, Claude caught me under my arms and held me up.
"You are not able to walk on your own. Put your arms around my
neck and I shall carry you." he said, before putting his arm under my knees
and around my back. then he lifted me up and said to Professor
McGonnagall,
"Please lead the way." I rested my head on Claude's shoulder
and relaxed as she lead us up the path to the huge oak front door that lead to
the Entrance hall, then up to the Hospital Wing. I heard a deep, silky voice
say,
"Well, welcome back, Miss Andrews." I felt Claude Stiffen
as
he saw Professor Snape come near me. I could tell he didn't like him. As Snape
carefully helped me on one of the beds, Claude held my hand, glaring at the
professor, as he asked,
" What has happened?" I told him that I had fallen down on my
way to Diagon Alley. He did not know that I had been in the 1400's for the
past six months. He mended my ankle and retreated to the other side of the
room, where he helped a few other students with various cuts.
Professor McGonagal came over to me and said
"How have you been? I see your little time travel trip worked
out well."
"Yes, Professor, It was wonderful. I met Claude Frollo, here,
and he's been very kind to me." Claude put his arm around my shoulder,
smiling
down at me.
"Am I healed?" I asked. Snape spoke as he made his way back
over to my bed. I jumped as he said
"Yes, but don't go falling down in crowded areas. Especially
without protection. You of all people should know how dangerous it is. Unless
you wish to meet the same sticky end as the rest of the careless Gryffindor!
"
Tears stung my eyes as I heard the last statement. Claude,
bending down to examine my ankle, caught the shaken expression on my face. His
lips tightened and he was about to go after Snape, but I grabbed his collar
and pulled him down to my level. Looking him directly in the eye, I said
seriously,
"Don't, Claude. He is one of them." he looked
confused.
"I'll explain later. Please promise me you won't go after him.
He will kill you if you try to fight him. He's always like
that."
he sighed and said,
"Alright. But only because I can't stand to see you cry." I
smiled. Getting up, I looked around the hospital searching for any familiar
face I could find, with Claude beside me. Suddenly I heard a shrill voice from
somewhere near the floor.
"Well, I'll be! Miss Andrews, is that you?
"
"GAH!" Claude leapt back, clutching his chest. Giggling, I
looked down and said
"Hello Professor Flitwick. Yes it's me. I was just looking
around to see who else was here."
"Oh, well no other students except for Mr. Longbottom and Mr.
Malfoy." Claude and I continued to walk along the Hospital.
Just before we reached the end of the room, I heard a drawling
voice from my right.
"Well, if it isn't the last Mudblood. The dark Lord must have
overlooked you somehow."
Instinctively my hand went to my robe pocket where my wand was.
Claude slid his arm around my waist, and grabbing my hand, gently but firmly
twisted it behind my back. He bent down and whispered in my
ear.
"If I must control my temper, it would seem fair to me if you
did the same." I replaced my wand and kept walking. But Claude didn't
let me
go until we were out in the corridor.
"Where are we going now?'' he asked. I was about to answer when
someone else spoke
"Sam, you're back! How wonderful to see you!" Sir Nickolis
drifted toward us. Again Claude jumped, clutching his
chest.
"G-ghost!" He stammered, eyes wide.
"Relax, Claude, he's a good guy. Sir Nicolis, this is my
friend--"
"Claude Frollo, Minister of Justice! Is that really you? But
how--? Did you go back in time, dear girl?"
"Yes. How did you know who he is?" I asked. Claude smirked as
the ghost bent to my level and whispered,
"How do you think I became this way?" he chuckled at my shocked
expression.
Shaking it off, I looked away for a second then
said,
"Well, we must be going. See you around, Nick." he nodded and
floated off.
I led Claude out into the stair room, where all the staircases
were. I took his hand and said
"Do not let go of my hand. Follow me." carefully, we made our
way up the many flights up to the fourth floor. I led Claude down many
corridors until we came to the portrait of the Fat
Lady
"Er--Fizzing--"
"Don't worry about the password, dear, There are only two
students here other than yourself and I know which ones are in Gryffindor. Go
on in." she said kindly. I thanked her and climbed through the hole. Claude
looked skeptical for a minute.
"You may have to bend down a bit." I
said.
Claude took his hat off, handed it to me and (I rolled my eyes;
"I saw that!" ), holding his robe up off the floor, climbed in. After
he
climbed in, I placed his hat on a hook near the stairs to the Girls' Dorms and
made my way to the fire, where I indicated for Claude to sit on the couch next
to me.
We both sat down and, while Claude looked around, I
said,
"This is the Gryffindor Common Room. Those stairs over there
lead to the dorms, where me and the rest of the girls in my year
slept."
Claude looked confused for a second. Then he
asked
"Why did that boy, the one you almost went after, have
different colored garments on?"
I took a deep breath and said,
"When I was born, I did not know that I was a witch, until my
eleventh birthday. I received a letter by owl that said that I was accepted at
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At first I thought the same thing
you did, that witches are all evil and worship the devil, but I learned
after I met...Professor Dumbledore, who told me that not all witches are bad,
in fact most, like him, are good and fight against evil. When I came
here, I had to sit on a stool and Professor McGonnagall placed an old hat on
my head. This hat was a magical one that could speak and read minds. The
purpose of this was for the hat to look at our personalities and decide which
House we belonged in. The House is basically like family to us. The four
houses are Ravenclaw, where the smart ones are, Hufflepuff, where the serious
ones are, Slytherin...well, you saw, they aren't very nice ones. There hasn't
been a single witch or wizard who went bad that wasn't in
Slytherin."
"Which one are you in?" Claude asked. I drew myself up proudly
and said,
"I am in Gryffindor House where the Brave at heart and Pure
souls dwell."
Claude smiled.
"That man, who healed your ankle, who is he and what did you
mean by 'one of them'?"
"He is a Death Eater. He is a spy for us but he is still
dangerous. As for being a jerk, he has always been that
way."
"That was still no way to treat a young lady!" Claude growled.
I smiled. just then Neville came in. He had a black eye and a bandaged hand,
but was fine otherwise. I stood up and went to him
"I'm-- I--I'm sorry, I tried to stop them but---
"
"Shh, Neville. It was not your fault. Don't listen to Professor
Snape. You are one of the bravest people I know. Come here, there is someone
I'd like you to meet. Claude this is Neville, Neville, Claude."
"Hello." Claude nodded. Neville looked at me and said
"Professor McGonagall wants us to go to her office. That's why
I came here."
"Okay. Let's go." The three of us made our way down to
Professor McGonagall's office and Neville knocked on the
door.
"Enter." came a cold male voice that we knew belonged to Snape.
We opened the door and stepped inside. Professor McGonagall was standing by
the door, and she closed it when we entered. She indicated for us to sit on
the sofa in front of the desk, at which Snape was sitting.
"I understand you have been in the year 1495 due to having in
your possession a time-turner, are my assumptions correct, Miss Andrews?
"
said Snape. I glanced at Claude's confused face, then back at
Snape.
"Yes, sir." I said. I think Snape saw Claude's face for he
said,
"No, I was not told this by anyone. But I'll tell you this,
Mister Frollo. Your...young charge, here is the last Muggle-born child in this
country. Apparently, in the Dark Lord's raid of the castle, he
overlooked you, somehow. Assuming that as you are here, Miss Andrews has told
you all about our ordeal. Surely you did not think that the Dark Lord would
not figure out that you were gone? He knows you are back, and plans on using
you as a distraction."
"Sir, what--?" Snape rounded on me and stood over me, his
finger pointing in my face. Claude put an arm protectively around
me.
"Now that you are back, we must hide you somewhere where He
will not find you. Thanks to your stupid little time travel adventure you have
endangered us all--!"
"Severus, that will do! I will not have you speaking to my
students like that!" Snapped Professor McGonagall. I started crying then.
"Oh,
Here come the tears..." Snape muttered as he walked back to the desk. Claude
wrapped his arms around me as I cried.
"Yes, Severus, of course she is crying. Did you expect her to
just sit there and agree with every word you just --?
"
"He's right! It's my fault we are all in danger!
"
"Shh, no, no, no. Don't say that. Don't you ever say that."
Claude held me tighter, stroking my hair. I clung to him for dear life,
sobbing into his chest. Professor McGonagall came and sat down next to me. she
looked at me and said,
"Of all my students you have been through the most pain. Being
tortured and bullied because of your disability, especially by a teacher,
would drive even me to wanting to be somewhere else. Don't put the blame of
this on yourself." I still cried, remembering what she meant by
that.
"Shh. Hush, my sweet child. Calm down. That's my good girl.
Shh.." Claude kissed my forehead and helped me to sit up. Glaring at Snape,
Claude quickly recovered and said politely to Professor McGonagall
"My dear Professor, what may I ask, did you call us down for?
"
"Oh, yes." Professor McGonagall said
crisply.
"Well as Severus so kindly put it, we must relocate you
and Miss Andrews to an Unplottable location." She looked expectantly at me
than at Snape.
"You--You don't mean--?"
"Yes, she means Order Headquarters." Snape
sighed.
"When?" I asked.
This afternoon. But first I need to ask you to go to the
Burrow. I am sure you wish to visit the Weasleys before you settle in." said
McGonnagall. I smiled and said
"Thank you."
"Well? Get going! The Dark Lord could be--!
"
"SEVERUS, KNOCK IT OFF!" McGonnagall screamed, before
motioning for us to leave.
"I'll be stopping by on Sunday to check on you. Please be
careful."
I nodded. As soon as we were out in the hall I looked at Claude
and said
"Do NOT repeat any thing you heard in that office to anyone.
Follow me." Claude nodded. and followed me. After returning to the Common
Room
to retrieve his hat, Claude and I walked outside to the front
gates.
"Alohomora." I cast the spell on the locks and they
opened.
"Oh, snap." I stopped and turned around, looking back at the
castle until I spotted the Gryffindor Tower window. Pointing my wand at the
small narrow window, I muttered,
"Accio Trunk." My trunk, albeit shrunken, came soaring through
the open window. I caught it and pocketed it before continuing on my way.
Holding out my wand hand, I waited for a second, Claude looked at me oddly.
But the next second he screamed and leapt off the ground, knocking his hat
off, as a loud BANG rent the air.
The mighty Knight Bus came speeding up to us.
He gaped, open mouthed, and wide eyed, at the bus. Smirking, I walked past
him, and stopped in front of him to say,
"Why does everything seem to surprise you?" I
giggled as Claude gave me a mock glare, putting his hat back on. I took his
hand and climbed on the bus. He seemed reluctant, so I stood behind him and
pushed him on the bus. Stan looked amused as he watched us sit down behind the
driver. Claude looked scared out of his mind, shaking slightly, looking around
the bus. I moved closer to him and wrapped my arms around him, resting my head
on his chest, saying,
"Calm down, Claude, it's just a bus. It is
going to bring us to The Leaky Cauldron." I said loudly. Claude relaxed when
I
hugged him, putting an arm around me and holding the arm rest with his other
hand. When the bus finally stopped, a very jumpy (and slightly green in the
face) Claude and I stepped off. I led him to the old tavern, into the back
where the lobby was
"Ah, Hullo, dear, welcome home. Are you here to
stay?" said Tom, a small, portly and friendly man, who was the innkeeper. I
shook my head.
"Hi, Tom. No. I just need to use a portkey,
will you set one up for me?"
"I sure can, where to?" he said, pulling out an
old umbrella from his desk and motioning for us to follow
him.
"The Burrow."
"Ah! the Weasleys, eh?
Alright.."
While he did the spell, I looked at Claude and
said
"When I tell you to, you need to put your
finger, any one, on that umbrella. But don't let go of my
hand."
I took Claude's hand and squeezed it.
"Here you go." said
Tom.
Looking at Claude, I said,
"Okay, ready?"
Claude nodded
"This is not going to be pleasant. One,
two, THREE!" Claude and I both touched the umbrella and instantly we were
pulled up and into the air. Two seconds later we were on the
Weasley's front
lawn.
Claude pulled himself up off the ground and
dusted his robes off. Rolling my eyes, I made my way to the front
door.
"I saw that, young lady. You know if you were
really my child, you would have been in big trouble for doing tha--" Claude
muttered walking up next to me. I cut him off.
"Who is it?" came Molly Weasley's voice,
through the partly opened door.
"It 's me, Sam."
She said slowly,
"Where were you born?
"
"Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, Maine,
USA. August thirteenth 1989."
Molly opened the door and
shrieked,
"Sam, oh, my goodness! Please, come in, and who
is this?"
I glanced at Claude and said,
"Oh, I met Claude Frollo here when I went on
that Time Travel trip. He sort of took me in."
Claude gracefully took her hand and kissed
it.
" Such a pleasure to meet you, my
dear."
Molly blushed and giggled
slightly.
"OY! We thought we heard your voice!
"
"Argh!" Fred and George jumped down onto the
landing and ambushed me in a bear hug,
"Now, boys, you really should not be so rough
with a young lady--" Claude started
"It's okay, Claude, they are just happy to see
me. Ow! Hey, watch it-- don't you get fresh with me, boy!" Fred
slapped me in
the rear. Claude laughed as I chased the twins up to their room. They ran into
their room and locked the door before I could get to
them.
"Damn!"
"Sam? Is that you?" came a timid voice behind
me. I turned around. Ginny stood in the door way, looking tired and
ill.
I took one tentative step toward her and she
broke. She ran to me and hugged me tightly, crying.
"I missed you so much. Now that Hermoine's
gone, You are all I have left. And I may not have gotten along with Ron, but
he is still my brother... I would never.."
"Shh, I know. This is not gonna be easy, but we
have to pull through. Come on, let's go down stairs, before your nitwit
brothers come out and ambush us." Ginny choked out a giggle. We went
downstairs and into the living room. Claude was sitting down in an old
armchair, looking quite comfortable. He looked up when he saw me come in. A
look of concern came across his face when he saw Ginny's tearstained face. Her
mom ushered her into the kitchen.
"Who is that?" Claude whispered, as I sat down
next to him on the couch.
"Ginny. She's the only girl child in the
Weasley family."
"But what's wrong with the poor dear? She
looked upset."
"You would be to if you lost your best friend
and your brother in the same day." I said
softly.
Claude looked shocked. When Molly came back in,
she sat down on the sofa with Ginny. I took her hand and gave it a reassuring
squeeze.
"Um, I can't stay for long, I have to go to--
"
"Yes, dear, we know. in fact, We were planning
to go there as well... To hide out for a while. The only problem we have now
is how to get Harry to come with us. He is at his aunt and uncle's house. Poor
thing..."I stood up quickly, making up my mind.
"I will go to see him. He needs to get out of
that house. I know I may have been traumatized by this whole war, but he has
the most pain in his heart."
Claude grabbed my arm as I made my way to the
door.
"You need to follow orders, not go all over the
country. I must go with you." I smiled and said
"Thanks, Claude. Come this
way."
Molly handed me the Floo powder basin as we
stepped into the fireplace. holding onto a confused Claude, I took a handful
from the basin and said clearly,
"Number Four Privet Drive, Little Whinging,
Surrey!" and dropped it.
"Hold on!" The Fireplaces spun by in a blur.
Suddenly I saw our destination.
Holding out my hand, we came to a halt. I
stepped out into the living room of the Dursleys'
house.
"Who the hell are you?!" came Vernon's voice.
He looked disgustedly at Claude, who, glared haughtily back, his nose high in
the air, as he daintily brushed his robes off. The Dursleys were friends with
my family, and I was the only witch that they allowed into their house. I
think they thought that Claude was a wizard, but I spoke
up.
"This is my friend, Claude Frollo, he is not
from around here." I said pointedly. He realized what I meant and
said,
"Oh, alright. But why are you here? If you are
looking for him, you're wasting your time, he's locked himself in his
room to rot."
I glared at him, then made my way to Harry's
room. I knocked, as Claude caught up with me.
"Harry, it's me, please let me in." I
said.
I heard a faint
"Hold on."
Turning around, I looked at Claude and
said,
"This not how he normally is. It's not gonna be pretty.
Chapter 9
The door opened to a horrible sight. Harry's face was pale, and
his eyes were blank, and glassy. grabbing his arm, I
said,
"Harry, you need to come with me. I know you don't want to go
back there, but Mrs. Weasley really wants to see you, and so does everyone
else. Don't you dare close this door in my face." Harry looked at me with a
defeated glare. He sighed and said
"Why do you think I am going to argue with you?" He smiled
slightly and held out his arms. I hugged him and kissed him on the cheek before
saying,
"We should Apparate. I don't think the Knight Bus will be safe
anymore for my friend Claude, here." Claude glared at me. I stuck my tongue
out at him. Claude shook his index finger at me, the way a father would
discipline a child and said,
"Young lady, you better watch your atti--
"
"Oh, knock it off, Claude, I was kidding." I giggled as he
looked shocked.
As we made our way outside, I informed Claude that we were
going to travel by Apparating. Harry looked questioningly at Claude but shook
his head.
"Okay, whatever."
We walked to a clear spot in the middle of the road and looked
around, making sure the area was clear, then we all stood together. I took
Harry's hand in mine, then Claude's hand in my other one. He looked
questioningly at me. I looked pointedly at Harry. Claude glared at me for a
second, but reluctantly took Harry's hand. I rolled my eyes, but received a
sharp, but gentle elbow in the ribs from Claude, (Note to self, Claude has
bony elbows!) who glared at me. Harry sighed.
"Are you two gonna start making out any minute now?" my face
fell into a disgusted grimace as I turned my head to him, then
said
"Are you kidding me? Claude is like my father! Ew!" Claude
looked confused for a second (probably because he's never heard the phrase
"making out"), then, after looking at me then at Harry, he understood.
He
winced then said
"Good gracious, dear boy! Where did those unholy thoughts come
from?! Never would I--"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got it."
"Okay, Claude, remember how we got to the Weasley's house?
"
"Ah, yes. The old umbrella. Why?"
"Well, this is going to be the same way, but without the
umbrella. Do NOT let go of my hand."
"Ready?" Harry asked us both. We
nodded.
We were lifted from the ground, then a second later thrown to
another new one.
"ugh. Could we please stop doing that? I am not liking the side
effects--"
"Claude, you just need to get used to it." I helped him up off
the ground. As he stood behind us, fixing his hat and dusting off his robe,
Harry and I walked slowly up the street, looking between the
houses.
"11...12, here, what a sec... there okay. Let's
go."
I took Claude's hand and we made our way to the
house.
"There you are! We were wondering when you were gonna show!
Come in, come in!" Came Tonks' voice. Claude raised his eyebrow at her shock
of bubble gum pink hair.
"Let's go." We went inside and waited while all the candles in
the hall were being lit. Then we made our way to the kitchen. When we got
there, the Weasleys were already there, the twins came over and Harry left
with them. Claude and I went to sit at the table. Mr. Weasley was at work, but
Tonks sat across from us, with Remus, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Bill, Charlie, and
Ginny.
I introduced them all to Claude, who nodded, "Miss Ginny, are
you feeling better, dear?" he asked kindly. Ginny blushed and said,
"Yes,
sir."
Claude chuckled and said kindly,
"Don't be shy, you can call me
Claude."
I smiled at him. Mrs. Weasley came in, but she looked a little
angry.
"Dear, I'm sorry, but Your going to have to sleep on the second
floor this time, those two are going to take the...room that Harry had, as
it's bigger, and Harry is going to take theirs. Now I need to find some spare
blankets for Mister Frollo, so he can sleep on the
sofa..."
I looked uneasily at Claude, who looked
concerned,
"What is it, dear?" he asked, lowering his ear so I could speak
softly to him.
"I... kind of like sleeping next to you.." I
blushed
Claude chuckled and, hugging me quickly,
"No need to be embarrassed. I'll sleep with you, but I think you
should ask her first."
"Okay." I said. I got up and walked over to Mrs. Weasley and
said quietly,
"Um, Claude and I are going to sleep in my room, is that okay?
"
Mrs. Weasley looked at me for a second, eyebrow
raised.
"Are you two--?"
"No, he is like my father. There is nothing going on like that.
I like Harry too much to do that!" I joked.
she laughed and said,
"Alright, but remember, Moody will be watching you. Would you
like to help me with supper? What does Claude like?
"
"Let's surprise him."
I winked at Claude to let him know all was well, then went to
help Mrs. Weasley. Ten minutes later (I love magic!) we were all sitting at the
table, tucking into one of Mrs. Weasley's fabulous meals, along with a few
American, Mainer dishes. Claude, for a man so thin, had a real hearty appetite!
He ate more than I did, and loved everything. After cleaning up, We all went
upstairs to our separate rooms, to get ready for bed. I went into the
bathroom, took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and put on a clean, soft pair
of pajamas.
When I came back in the room, Claude was sitting on the bed,
unlacing his shoes. I laughed, then had an idea.
"Ooh!, Stay right here." I ran down to the kitchen where Mrs.
Weasley was sitting at the table.
"Can you help me? Claude, actually. I really don't think he
should be prancing about in the twenty first century wearing a cassock, and
that annoying yoke!" I laughed
"Okay, hang on, let's go up and see what we can do for him."
When we got to the room, Claude was fussing with his
collar.
"I can fix that." I said. Glancing at Mrs. Weasley, who nodded,
I ripped his collar off, shocking him.
"Sorry, but you simply can not dress like this while you are
here. I think this will be a little more comfortable." she flicked her wand
and Claude Frollo's usual long black robe lined with purple vanished. It was
replaced by a set of sky blue pajamas, with white
stripes.
Claude looked disgusted for a second, then he sat down. His
face broke into a smile.
" Well, this has to be the most comfortable thing I've ever
worn! It looks like what you have on."
I smiled.
"Now we need to make some robes and a few pairs of shoes. But
that will wait till tomorrow."
I thanked her as she left.
"Now, I have one more thing to adjust..." Claude looked around
at me as I got up on the bed and stood on my knees behind
him.
"What--? Ooh!" I put one hand on each of his shoulders, and
firmly massaged them. Claude gave a soft moan of
approval.
"I knew you would like that. From now on, don't be so stiff and
straight, relax. It's not good to be so stiff." After giving him a massage,
I
reached into my trunk, pulled out my makeup pouch, then took out a tube of
hand lotion.
"Hold out your hands like this." I
instructed.
when he held out his hand, I squeezed out a little of the
lotion onto his hand.
"Now do this." I said, showing him how to rub it into
has
hands.
"It smells nice, what is it?" he asked as he did the same as
me.
"It's Vanilla. If you have this on your hands, or anything that
smells like vanilla, it will help you sleep
better."
After that we both crawled under the blankets, and snuffed the
candles.
"Claude?"
"Hmm?"
"I'm sorry I made you come here. I know you must not like it
here." Claude sighed and pulled me close to him.
"You don't need to apologize. I have not told you this, but I
really do love you. You are like the daughter I never had. I know you must
have had a rough life. I'll always be here, right beside you. But... Can I ask
you something?"
"Sure." I said, sitting up slightly.
"I noticed, even though you live here, your accent is different
from everyone else, here. Where did you originally come from?
"
"I... was born in the United States, or America. I came here
during the year, for school, but I stopped going home last year. I was not
getting along with my mom very well, so decided to stay in London."
"Why didn't you get along--?"
"Claude, please," I looked up at him, feeling tears well in my
eyes, I said quietly," I don't want to talk about it." He looked at me
for a
second, then he softly stroked my face.
" Alright." He wrapped his arms around me and held me close to
him. I took a deep breath and forced back the tears, but Claude, noticing,
said,
"No, look at me.. if you feel like crying, let it out. Don't keep it inside. That will only prolong the pain." I cried myself to sleep that night, but Claude held me close the whole time.
Chapter 10
The next morning Claude and I were awoken by
Mrs. Weasleys screams.
"EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE
THIS! HAVE NO SENSE OF CONSIDERATION--"
"Looks like the twins have done something
again." I muttered. Claude drowsily rubbed his eyes, sitting up in
bed.
"Wassumatter?" He asked.
"The twins are probably using magic when they
are not supposed to--" Ginny came in just then, holding her
eye.
" My goodness! are you alright, dear girl?"
Claude asked, getting up to help Ginny.
"What happened?" I
asked.
" It looks worse than it feels, really. Fred
knocked a plate of kippers off the table and elbowed me in the eye, trying to
catch it."
"Are those two capable of keeping themselves
out of trouble for even a moment?" asked Claude. Ginny and I exchanged
glances
then burst into laughter. Claude took that as a no.
"Come on, let's go down for breakfast." I said
to him. We dressed (I changed in the bathroom) and went down to the
kitchen.
"Good morning, Mrs. Weasley." I said as I sat
down next to Remus.
"Good morning, dear." she replied. I wasn't
really hungry so I just made some toast. But as I got up after finishing it,
Claude grabbed my arm and pushed me back down.
"You need to eat more than that." he said.
Remus nodded his agreement.
"Professor Snape will not be pleased if you
collapsed during his lesson." said Remus
"What lesson?" I asked as I reluctantly took a
bowl of oatmeal Claude had gotten for me. Remus looked
uneasy.
"He... will be coming over every Wednesday and
Friday to teach you guys defense spells and
such."
I glared at him and said,
"Why? Can't Professor McGonnagall do it?" I
said
"No, she has a school to run. Professor Snape
is the only wizard left in the Order--who is still strong enough to do
it--that is trained in that field." Said Mr. Weasley as he came in the
kitchen
and sat down.
"We know you kids don't exactly get along with
him, but you need to be prepared. Especially you, Samantha. And Professor
McGonagall will not let you kids back at Hogwarts. It is too
dangerous."
"And besides, he doesn't hate you, Sam."
Remus reasoned. I smiled sarcastically at him and
said,
"No, but I am sure he resents me because I am
friends with Harry. I think he knows I fa--" I coughed and looked down,
blushing. I didn't want Claude to know I harbored feelings for Harry. Only
Mrs. Weasley and Remus knew.
"No, I did not know that, although I disagree
with your theory." said a cold voice from the door. Snape was standing in
the
doorway, wearing his usual black robe, and black traveling
cloak
"Professor! Oh, my goodness, I didn't hear you
come in. Please, sit! Have some toast!" beamed Mrs.
Weasley.
Snape bowed politely and
said,
"I thank you, Mrs. Weasley for the kind
invitation, but I need to speak with Miss Andrews privately if it is
alright."
I glanced at Claude, who was glaring daggers at Snape. I
said,
"Yes, sir. Just give me a
minute."
"I'll be in the drawing room. Do hurry." He
left.
"Why does he want to talk to you alone?" asked
Claude.
"Don't know. But stay down here. Talk to Remus.
I think you'll get along well with him. I'll be right back." Claude
reluctantly let me go. I walked up to the drawing room, where Snape was
sitting on the sofa in front of the fire. He saw me and gestured for me to sit
down next to him. After a moment of silence, he spoke, in a surprisingly
gentle voice.
"Miss Andrews, I wish to know why you went to
the 1400's. Was it that bad at Hogwarts that you could not handle it? Or did
you think that by you leaving it was going to be easier for Mr. Potter to deal
with this war without you? If that is the case, then let me tell you right now
that you are very much mistaken. The feelings that you have for the young man
are feelings he has for you as well. He has made that so very obvious in class
and outside of class. I know he told you about the Oclumency lessons that him
and I shared two years ago. That is how I know how he feels about you.
Normally I would not interfere and reveal such petty, adolescent information,
but Potter has withdrawn himself because he feels you don't--and never will--
feel that way for him. He can't be in this state when the Final Battle comes.
He needs a pillar of strength--you." He looked seriously at me for a minute.
I
looked away, trying to hide my joy. I masked my face and
said,
"I don't know what to do, sir. Should I ask him
out and be his girlfriend?"
I closed my eyes and smacked my forehead for
being so blunt. Snape just shook his head and said,
"If that is what you feel is right. Just
be there for him, is all I ask of you. Now, I have something else to ask you.
Do you know anything about Claude Frollo's background?
"
I shook my head no, wondering why he was
asking me this. Snape sighed as he noticed my confused
expression.
"I am not going to come right out and say what
I am trying to tell you. Let me ask you two things. Number one. Do you
understand that no Muggle can enter Hogwarts, nor can they see it?
"
I nodded.
"Alright. Now here comes number two. Did you
use any kind of charm spell enchantment, or potion that would enable that
minister to be able to enter Hogwarts?"
"No..." I said, realization dawning on me. I
looked at Snape, wide-eyed.
"He can't be... No! He's from the 1400's! They
burned people like us back then!"
Snape looked at me said,
"I think you should tell him tonight. This way
we can get him a wand, and train him. With the proper training, and studying,
I truly believe that he will be as powerful as Professor Dumbledore was. That
is what we need. He just doesn't know it, or he doesn't want to acknowledge
it." I walked back to the kitchen in shock. How was I supposed to tell
Claude
Frollo, esteemed Minister of Justice from the late 1400's, that he was a
wizard? I took a deep breath and opened the door. Claude looked up as soon
as I entered. He stood up and came up to me.
"Darling, what's wrong? You're paler than
usual." He asked, cupping my face in his hands. I blinked and
said,
"Claude, you need to come with me. I... need to
tell you something." I took his hand and pulled him out into the hall, then
up
to our room. when we were in the room, and the door was closed, I indicated
for him to sit on the bed.
"Claude, I know we both come from two very
different worlds... and in yours, people like me are killed--
"
"I've already told you that since you are not
evil--"
"I know, but let me finish. Claude, I don't
know how to say this, so I am going to explain it to you. Remember when you
came to the school with me?" He non-magical can even
see that castle... and I didn't make it so you could see it with any kind of
spell."
Dim registration dawned on the judge's
face.
" Do you mean to tell me that I'm a---" He
stopped.
"Yes, Claude. You are a wizard." he just
stared, shocked.
"I know you probably think you are somehow evil
because of this but you aren't. Professor Snape said that with the right
training and studying, you could be as powerful as...
Dumbledore."
"Who is this Dumbledore? I keep hearing that
name, but I have yet to meet him." Claude said.
I bowed my head and murmured,
"He's dead."
"Oh. H-how powerful was he, though?" Claude
asked. I shook myself and said
"Let's put it this way, he's the only one Lord
Voldemort fears."
Claude shuddered. I just nodded
understandingly.
